The Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR), Ceylon Motor Sport Club (CMSC) and Motor Racing Association (MRA) will combine together to unveil the ‘Colombo Motokhana Championship on January 5. The first leg of the inaugural motor car and motorbike championship, will be held at the parking facility of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Torrington, Colombo.
The event will include two events for cars and three events for bikes, in which the organisers expect to open the doors to novice drivers and riders to experience and tryout their skills and abilities in racing. The cars will have two categories — Manual and Auto — in the 1000cc class, while in motorbikes the three events will be 160cc for Novices, 160cc to 150cc Sports and up to 250cc Trails.
The Motokhana will include different stages and on each level, the competitors will have to complete the course designed by the organisers with the fastest timing. The pattern will continue in the upcoming legs, which will be run throughout the year. The winners of each leg will be presented with trophies and certificates.
The inaugural Colombo Motokhana Championship will be open for drivers and riders who are active in motorsports, as well as novices, who expect to take up driving and riding as a sport.
