Ashan Silva and Jacque Gunawardene were named the best Driver and Rider at the Hutch-Sri Lanka Super Series 2019 annual Awards Ceremony held at the Eagles Lakeside Hotel in Ratmalana.

 

Best Driver Silva and Best Rider Gunawardene were presented with a brand new Honda motorbike each by the organisers of the event, which was organised by the Sri Lanka Association for Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) and Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC).

 

Silva, who dominated the core event for cars, the SL GT up to 3500cc event was the unanimous choice for Best Driver while Gunawardene, who impressed during the season in the Class MX up to 250cc Motocross, was the star attraction among riders.

 

The organisers considered the Fox Hill Supercross held in Diyatalawa, Commando Supercross held in Kuda Oya, Cavalry Supercross held in Pangolla, Kurunegala, Colombo Supercross held in Welisara and circuit meets held at the Mirigama and Katukurunda race tracks to consideration to pick the best out of the lot during the season from the motor racing competitors.

 

Besides the two main awards five awards were presented under cars while three awards were presented in bikes as Mihan Peiris, Tharindu Dharmaratne, Zakir Wahab, Randika Niroshan and Malika Kuruwitaarachchi won awards for drivers.

 

Riders Kesara Godage, Nadun Wijesekara and Deshan Solanki won the three awards presented in the motorbikes category.

 

Hutch Sri Lanka was the main sponsor of the Sri Lanka Super Series, while Honda came forward to give away the two brand new motorbikes for the main winners.

 

Defence Secretary Major General Kamal Gunaratne graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Commander of Sri Lanka Army made his presence felt as a special guest.
